Nominated by East Alabama Horseman's Association Mrs. Pete Minter has given a large portion of her life and endless hours of service to make EAHA an enormous success. Mrs. Minter served as a director from 1964 until 1967. After that she served as secretary under five different presidents from 1967 until 1979. She is still remembered today, some 20 years after her involvement, for her tireless dedication to the success of many open shows within EAHA. In talking with her, it is obvious that her participation is an accomplishment she is very proud of. She and her family held an annual show at their farm for over 20 years and adults today will tell you that it was one the best around and a great place to make memories. She also helped to organize the horse show in the city of Camp Hill and at other neighboring clubs in Reeltown and Notasulga. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to help the shows run smoothly. Mrs. Minter grew up in several towns in Alabama and later settled in Camp Hill where she met and married Joe Minter in 1950. They raised horses and operated a dairy and beef cattle farm until 1972. They raised two children, Henry & Kathy. Today Kathy lives in Louisburg, TN where she is carrying on the family tradition of being involved in the Walking Horse industry. Kathy is still showing horses along with the Minter's 16 year old granddaughter. One of the Minter's favorite pastimes today is watching their daughter & granddaughter participate in horse shows. |
